Rhode Island is receiving just under two-million-dollars from the federal government to help victims of crime.  The money comes from the U.S. Department of Justice Victim Assistance Program.  It will be used to support direct services for victims of violent crime, including mental health counseling and legal assistance.  Senator Sheldon Whitehouse says violent crime can mean a long recovery for victims and their community, and this funding will provide important services to Rhode Islanders.
