Garden Help and Soil Testing

From 10:00AM to 12:00PM

Prescott Farm, 2009 West Main Rd., Middletown For the past ten years, the Prescott Farm gardens have been a URI Master Gardener project site. On Sunday mornings (weather dependent), the Master Gardeners offer free soil analysis and gardening information. In addition to texture and pH evaluation, the Master Gardeners will offer advice on any gardening, lawn care or other questions you may have.

My Favorite Things: Harp Recital

From 7:00PM to 7:55PM

Arilyn Mitchell, harpist, will play a recital at St. Mary’s Church at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 2nd. At only fourteen-years-old, Arilyn is already a highly accomplished, exciting, and sensitive musician, who has performed in orchestras across the country, including the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. The program will include music from all eras, from virtuosic show-pieces, to show-tunes and crooner ballades. Arilyn has been accepted to the Tanglewood Institute this summer, and her family is raising funds to help her afford to attend this prestigious program. Admission is free, and there will be a free-will offering to help fund Arilyn’s Tanglewood enrollment.

Jamestown Community Chorus Presents “Brush Up Yo

The 50-member Jamestown Community Chorus presents “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” at 7:30 p.m. May 2 and 3 p.m. on May 3 at Central Baptist Church, 99 Narragansett Ave. in Jamestown. The concert features the lyrics of Shakespeare set to glorious music. Honoring “The Bard” will be soloists, small ensembles and the full chorus singing music from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, Cymbeline, Orpheus, and Shakespeare’s poems as well as modern selections referencing Shakespeare such as “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” by Cole Porter and a selection from West Side Story.
