Former Rhode Island state representative Leo Medina has been sentenced to serve three years in prison for stealing $28,000 from a life insurance policy from a friend’s daughter.  Medina, who served one term in the General Assembly, was found guilty of unlawful appropriation of funds by a jury yesterday in superior court.
