Registered Rhode Island Republicans and Democrats head to the polls to choose their party's candidate for governor and other statewide races. Voters are advised to bring their approved photo identification in today's primary election, as proper ID is now required at the polls. Voters not in possession of an approved ID can cast a provisional ballot, where their signature will be checked against their voter registration card. Polls open at seven a.m. in most communities, and close at eight p.m. statewide.
