A man from North Kingstown was arrested Monday after being accused on charges of child molestation that allegedly happened during a Newport International Polo match in July. The Providence Journal reports that Brian Smith, 52, is charged with 2nd degree child molestation and simple assault after an investigation into the incident which occurred at the Garner Seveney Complex in Portsmouth. Two 10 year old children told police that a man began talking to them, and then touched them, including reaching under one girl’s skirt. The investigation led police to Smith, who was arrested in Lynnfield MA. The Peabody District Court released Smith on $10,000 cash bail on Monday to face the charges in Newport District Court. According to police Smith has been arraigned and posted $30,000 surety bail.
