Police and firefighters in Rhode Island will gather to remember the victims of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The Rhode Island State Police have planned a statewide commemoration for this morning at the State House. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. The lieutenant governor, law enforcement officers and other state leaders, as well as family members of the victims, plan to speak. The Providence Fire Department will also host a ceremony at the Providence Public Safety Complex this morning at 9 a.m. Gov. Lincoln Chafee is calling for a voluntary statewide moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. on this morning to mark the 13th anniversary. U.S. and state flags will fly at half-staff.
