The group that convinced the state to eliminate tolls on the Sakonnet River Bridge is back at work. This time they are looking to have the DOT take over the functions of the Turnpike & Bridge Authority. According to the Daily News, the group wants the DOT to take over because it gets a better bond rating than the authority and in its best year, only 37% of the authority’s money went for maintenance.
