A decision on whether to accept a proposal to replace the wind turbine at Portsmouth High School has been put off for another week. According to the Daily News, the proposal from Wind Energy Development of North Kingstown states that the company is willing to tear down the turbine that has stood idle for two years and replace it with a 1.5 megawatt, direct drive model that works without a gear box. In view of a November 1st deadline for the town to formally accept the offer, the council is scheduled to decide the issue Monday, October 27th.
