The Rhode Island ACLU is challenging a new law that would bar sex offenders from living within one-thousand feet of a school. The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit recently, saying there is no evidence that the ordinance will be beneficial to the community. Last week officials announced that sex offenders who live within one-thousand feet of schools must find a new home by the beginning of November. The law was passed earlier this summer and only applies to level three sex offenders.
