Providence firefighters are looking to fill vacancies within the department. A fire spokesman told WPRI.com that they're working to "reshuffle resources" in an effort to combat a lack of firefighters on duty. Over the weekend they were nearly a dozen people short, making it difficult to properly staff the department. Not a lot of information was released about the changes, but fire engines were staffed with three people on Saturday, despite typically having four members. The firefighters union is arguing that crew members should be paid time-and-a-half for overtime.
