Students in Newport, Providence and Westerly public schools may soon have the opportunity to earn their high school diplomas and associate's degrees simultaneously. Officials with the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation is expected to vote tonight on whether to award 200-thousand-dollars to three school districts, allowing them to implement the six-year education program. The program also aims to partner with area businesses to prepare students for jobs in a variety of fields.
