Brown University is considering taking down several multi-family homes to make room for more commercial parking lots. The school recently unveiled that it intends to flatten seven homes between Cushing, Meeting and Brook streets. The parking lot wouldn't require a permit and would be managed by a third party instead. Before moving forward, city leaders must approve the plan. A hearing on the matter is slated for next Tuesday. School leaders say the two-unit buildings currently in the space are, quote, "unsightly" and "dilapidated."
