>>Patriots Close Out Regular Season With Loss To Dolphins
(Undated)  --  The New England Patriots lost their regular-season finale to the Miami Dolphins on the road Sunday, 33-to-24.  The Patriots finished the 2021 season with a record of 10-and-7.  They are playing at the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday, January 15th.  Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished the regular season with a 13-and-4 record.  The Bucs are playing the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round. 
>>New Pandemic Guidelines Issued For Rhode Island Schools 
(Providence, RI)  --  New COVID-19 protocols are being implemented in Rhode Island public schools starting Monday.  The headline is that the quarantine period is being shortened from ten to five days.  The state says it is adopting CDC guidance.  The full details are on the Rhode Island Department of Health website.
>>Judge Refuses To Block RI Healthcare Worker COVID Vaccine Mandate 
(Providence, RI)  --  The Providence Journal reports a federal judge refused to issue an order stopping the state of Rhode Island from enforcing a coronavirus vaccinate mandate for healthcare workers on Friday.  The judge observed that the state has a history of requiring vaccinations for people working in the industry.  The mandate was challenged for failing to provide a religious exemption.
>>U.S. Attorney Opens Investigation In Connection To Alleged Fat Test Scandal 
(North Kingstown, RI)  --  WPRI-TV reports the Rhode Island U.S. Attorney's Office is opening an investigation into the North Kingstown School Department's handling of allegations against the former boys' basketball coach.  The feds have launched a civil rights probe, while at the same time the state attorney general is also looking into whether Aaron Thomas conducted inappropriate body fat tests on players.  Thomas has not been criminally charged and has denied the allegations against him.
>>Very Cold Nighttime Temps To Start Week 
(Providence, RI)  --  Cold temperatures are headed to Southern New England.  The National Weather Service says it will get down to ten degrees in Providence on Monday night and down to five degrees Tuesday night.  Forecasters say there will be sub-zero windchills.
>>PC Basketball Coach Earns 300th Win 
(Providence, RI)  --  Providence College men's basketball coach Ed Cooley won his 300th career game over the weekend.  The Friars beat St. John's at the Dunk on Saturday 83-to-73.  Cooley has been with Providence for eleven years and previously coached five seasons at Fairfield University.
