(Providence, RI)  --  Tuesday is going to be a very cold day in Rhode Island.  The Providence forecast from the National Weather Service is sunny with a high near 15, with wind chill values around negative-five.  The real temperature will drop down to single digits Tuesday night before a jump back to above-freezing temps on Wednesday.

>>Coronavirus Death Toll In Rhode Island: 3,136

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island reported fifteen new coronavirus deaths over the weekend.  The pandemic death toll in the Ocean State has risen to three-thousand-136.  There were over 13-thousand new virus cases reported on Monday.  The number of COVID patients hospitalized in Rhode Island as of yesterday's update was four-hundred-ten.

>>New RI Nursing Home Visitation Rules 

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee is announcing new visitation measures for nursing homes and assisted living facilities.  All visitors must now be vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a negative COVID test result.  A PCR test has to be from within three days, and an antigen test has to be within two days.  All visitors, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks.  McKee said this is a crucial step in protecting the state's most-vulnerable residents.

>>Help For Rhode Island Homeowners Who Have Suffered Pandemic Hardships 

(Providence, RI)  --  The state of Rhode Island is launching a homeowner assistance program for people who have struggled to pay the bills during the pandemic.  The fifty-million dollars being provided is from the American Rescue Plan Act.  Applications can be filled out by visiting the Rhode Island Homeowner Assistance Fund website.

>>Attleboro Mayor Running For Bristol MA Sheriff 

(Undated)  --  Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux [[ hero ]] is running for Bristol County Massachusetts Sheriff.  Incumbent Thomas Hodgson has indicated he is seeking another term.  Heroux thinks 24 years, which is how long Hodgson has held the office, is too long.  Heroux, a former Democratic state representative, says his qualifications include working in the Philadelphia county jail and Massachusetts prison systems.  Hodgson was a vocal Republican supporter of President Trump.  Last year, a scathing report from the Massachusetts Attorney General on civil rights violations caused the Bristol County Jail to lose its contract to house federal immigration detainees.

>>Offer Made To Buy WooSox 

(Worcester, MA)  --  A company is reportedly making a pitch to buy the Worcester Red Sox.  According to multiple media outlets, Beverly Hills, California-based Endeavor Sports wants to add the WooSox to its portfolio of minor league baseball teams.  WooSox chairman Larry Lucchino told the Boston Globe and Worcester Telegram and Gazette that an offer was received, but would not comment on the status of any negotiations.  The newspapers reported Lucchino's partners were not in favor of the proposal.
