>>More Cold Air Coming, Possible Weekend Storm In Forecast 

(Undated)  --  The next batch of winter weather in Southern New England could be right around the corner.  The National Weather Service says a strong storm is possible next Sunday into Monday.  Ahead of that, the weather service says another shot of arctic air may result in wind chills dropping to subzero again Friday night into Saturday morning. 

>>Coronavirus Death Toll In Rhode Island: 3,144

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island reported eight new coronavirus deaths on Tuesday.  The pandemic death toll in the Ocean State increased to three-thousand-144.  There were over four-thousand new virus cases.  The number of COVID-19 patients in Rhode Island hospitals as of yesterday's update was up to four-hundred-59.

>>Fatal South County Crash On Route 1

(South Kingstown, RI)  --  Police are investigating a fatal crash in South Kingstown.  Reports indicate the wrong-way crash happened on Route 1 Tuesday at around 5 p.m.  One person died.  Their name was not immediately released. 

>>Dead Humpback Whale On Little Compton Beach

(Little Compton, RI)  --  A humpback whale that washed ashore in Little Compton is likely going to remain there until the spring and nature will be allowed to take its course.  The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says the young male whale, about 25 feet long, was discovered dead on a remote beach over the weekend.  Officials say in a few months, it's not likely there will be much of the carcass left.  The DEM and the Mystic Aquarium are hoping to conduct a necropsy on Wednesday.

>>Man Sentenced On Fentanyl Charge

(Providence, RI)  --  A Providence man is getting federal prison for trafficking fentanyl.  The Justice Department says Andre Monroe admitted to being involved in two deliveries of around fifty grams of fentanyl each time in 2019.  Monroe was sentenced on Tuesday to six years.

>>Friars Basketball Takes Virus Hit

(Providence, RI)  --  Tuesday's night's Providence College men's basketball game was canceled because of COVID issues.  The Friars were scheduled to play at Creighton University.  There will be an attempt to make the game up.  The Providence Journal reports this is the first time PC has had to postpone a game because of virus protocols within the program during the pandemic.  The Friars' next-scheduled game is at the Dunk on Saturday versus UConn. 

>>Tuukka Rask Back With Boston

(Boston, MA)  --  The Boston Bruins are officially signing free agent goaltender Tuukka Rask to a one-year, one-million-dollar contract.  Rask returns to Boston after recovering from offseason hip surgery.  The 34-year-old is the franchise's all-time leader in wins, games played, and save percentage.  To make room on the roster, rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman was sent down to the Providence Bruins.
