(Undated)  --  Rhode Island is dealing with dangerous wind chills ahead of the next potential winter storm.  The National Weather Service is predicting the temperature will feel as cold as 20-degrees below zero in northern and central RI Friday night and Saturday morning.  The weather service is tracking a storm that's expected to impact Southern New England Sunday night into Monday.

>>Patriots Versus Bills In First Round Of NFL Playoffs 

(Orchard Park, NY)  --  The New England Patriots are getting set for their first playoff game since the departure of Tom Brady.  Rookie Pats quarterback Mac Jones led the team to a 10-and-7 record this season.  Jones and the rest of the Patriots face frigid conditions when they play the Buffalo Bills in the first round on Saturday night.  It's expected to be single digits for the 8:15 p.m. kickoff in Western New York.  Brady will enjoy much warmer conditions in Tampa as his Buccaneers host the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday afternoon.

>>Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott Resigning From RI Department Of Health

(Providence, RI)  --  The woman who, for many Rhode Islanders, has been the face of the state government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic is resigning from her post.  Doctor Nicole Alexander-Scott is stepping down as the director of the Rhode Island Department of Health.  Alexander-Scott, who had a background on the topic of infectious diseases, earned praise for the information she provided during former governor Gina Raimondo's daily pandemic updates.  However, a vaccine mandate for healthcare workers enacted by RIDOH during her time as director was met with resistance.  Alexander-Scott says she is ready for the next chapter of her work in public health.

>>Center For COVID Control Closes

(Providence, RI)  --  A coronavirus testing facility in Rhode Island is shutting down.  Illinois-based Center for COVID Control has been the source of complaints from patients across the country.  The company says it is temporarily pausing operations.  WJAR-TV reports the Rhode Island Department of Health has ordered two test sites to cease-and-desist operations in Smithfield and West Warwick because Center for COVID Control was not authorized to operate in the state.

>>Temporary Nursing Licenses, Military Help For RI Hospitals 

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island leaders are working to address hospital staffing issues.  The state is allowing recent graduates of nursing schools to work under temporary licenses.  Healthcare employers are conducting outreach this week.  A virtual job fair is being held on Friday for Eleanor Slater Hospital and the Rhode Island Veterans Home.  Several hospitals in Rhode Island are getting federal military and National Guard assistance.

>>Rhode Island Man Gets Prison Time For Scam Conspiracy 

(Providence, RI)  --  A Rhode Island man is being sentenced to federal prison for laundering the proceeds of a number of online scams.  The Justice Department says Samson Ikotun of East Providence moved nearly one-million-dollars to co-conspirators in Nigeria.  Ikotun has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.  A restitution order is pending.
