>>Jury Selection Underway For Fatal Kidnapping Trial Of Providence Man 

(Boston, MA)  --  Jury selection has gotten underway in the federal fatal kidnapping trial of Providence man Louis Coleman the Third.  Coleman is accused of kidnapping a young woman in Boston, Jassy Correia, in February 2019.  Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty against Coleman.  Instead, he would face life in prison if convicted.

>>Two Prov Residents Sentenced To Federal Prison

(Providence, RI)  --  Two Providence men are getting federal prison time.  The Justice Department says Paul Diogenes, a career fraudster, schemed to obtain over eight-hundred-thousand-dollars' worth of surf-and-turf menu items , then re-sold the food to area businesses.  Prosecutors say he rammed his car into two FBI task force vehicles when an arrest attempt was made last summer.  Diogenes was sentenced to ten years.  The DOJ also says Courtney Hilaire was sentenced to five years behind bars for being involved in wide-ranging bank fraud and COVID small business loan schemes.

>>State Education Commissioner Comes Down With COVID

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Angelica Infante-Green has tested positive for COVID-19.  Infante-Green reportedly had to skip a "state of education" speech on Monday because of the illness.  The speech was delivered by her senior adviser at East Providence High School.

>>Courthouse Inhabitant Who Was Shot Settles

(Providence, RI)  --  The city of Providence has reached a settlement with a Pawtucket man who alleged that police officers failed to protect him.  The Providence Journal reports the sum going to Matthew Depina is thirty-thousand dollars.  Depina was with his cousin, who was a member of a Pawtucket gang, for proceedings at the Licht Judicial Complex in 2017.  They got into a confrontation with rival gang members who were ordered by security to leave, but they then live-streamed threatening commentary from the courthouse vestibule.  Depina was shot outside the courthouse minutes later.

>>Simulated Disaster Response Scheduled

(Narragansett, RI)  --  The United States Coast Guard, state and local agencies are coordinating a training exercise for a mass casualty incident in South County this week.  The scenario is a ferry vessel on fire with fifty people on board with various injuries.  The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency says the exercise will take place on Thursday morning at North Beach in Narragansett.

>>Celtics Beat Bucks In Game 4

(Undated)  --  The Celtics have tied their second-round NBA playoff series.  The C's beat the Milwaukee Bucks on the road Monday night, 116-to-108.  The pivotal Game 5 is at T.D. Garden on Wednesday.  The Bruins look to take the series lead in Game 5 of their first-round NHL playoff matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.  The puck drops at PNC Arena at 7:00.
