(Undated)  --  Here is the latest news: A person is fatally struck by a train in Providence.  The state of Rhode Island is soliciting proposals for supervised drug injection sites.  Providence native Jeremy Peña wins a Gold Glove, and he's also going for a World Series title.

>>Fatal Train Strike In Providence

(Providence, RI)  --  A person was struck and killed by a commuter train in Providence on Wednesday.  The incident happened yesterday afternoon on the tracks near Orms Street.  The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority reported severe delays as a result.  WPRI-TV reports the victim was a 19-year-old woman.  Foul play was not indicated, according to police.

>>RI Soliciting Proposals For Supervised Drug Use Centers

(Providence, RI)  --  Rhode Island is moving forward with a plan for supervised drug injection sites.  Governor Dan McKee authorized the two-year pilot program in 2021.  WJAR-TV reports the state opened up the bidding process for companies to submit proposals on Wednesday.  The acting secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services said the expectation is that the injection centers will be located in hot spots for drug usage.  Companies are being asked to submit proposals by December 2nd.

>>Spraying Scheduled Today For Spotted Lanternflies

(Undated)  --  The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is treating areas of the state for spotted lanternfly infestations on Thursday.  Pockets have been found in Lincoln, North Providence and Smithfield.  The director of the DEM says the Ocean State must continue to move aggressively in the areas where the lanternfly has been found before it spreads widely and causes considerable economic harm.

>>Watch Hill Mansion Sells For Over $17M

(Westerly, RI)  --  Taylor Swift's mansion on Watch Hill is still the house to beat when it comes to real estate sales.  According to Lila Delman Compass Realty, another Watch Hill mansion just sold for 17-point-7-million dollars.  The eleven-thousand-square-foot estate, named "Treasure Hill", is the most expensive house sale in Rhode Island this year.  But, the sale is five-thousand dollars less than T-Swift's, which was purchased in 2013.

>>Ime Udoka Could Be Leaving The Celtics

(Boston, MA)  --  Multiple reports say the Brooklyn Nets are planning to hire Ime Udoka away from the Boston Celtics as their next head coach.  Udoka was suspended by the Celtics for the entire season after finding he had an improper relationship with a female team employee.  The Nets parted ways with head coach Steve Nash on Tuesday.  Boston is allowing Udoka to leave the team to take the Nets job.  They've started the season with a record of 4-and-3 under interim bench boss Joe Mazzulla, a former basketball star at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick.

>>Providence Native Peña Makes History With Gold Glove Award 

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Providence native Jeremy Peña has become the first rookie shortstop in Major League Baseball to win a Gold Glove.  The awards were announced on Tuesday.  Peña was the American League Championship Series MVP.  He went 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored in Game 4 of the World Series on Wednesday night to help the Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-to-0, knotting up the series at two games.
