Despite national advertising campaigns from major retailers, stores in Rhode Island will not open today.  State law prohibits retail stores from opening on Thanksgiving Day.  Big stores in Rhode Island will open for Black Friday at midnight, no earlier.  Massachusetts and Maine are the only other states where big retailers are prohibited from opening today.
