The Spirit of Giving Clothing and Toy Drive pairs children’s wish lists from over 4,000 RI children with gifts from individuals, businesses and social, charitable and religious organizations. Donations of new toys and/or clothing can be dropped off at the Children’s Friend, 153 Summer Street in Providence, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monetary gifts are also welcomed in support of the Spirit of Holiday Giving drive and can be mailed to Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive, c/o Children’s Friend, 153 Summer Street, Providence, RI, 02903. All donations must be received by December 15. A non-profit organization founded in 1834, Children’s Friend is a leading provider of child welfare, family support, mental health, and child development services. Families are strengthened by creating safe and nurturing environments for children during the crucial early years, and by helping parents gain access to the resources, education, and support that they need. In this way, children are given the foundation to help them live healthy and productive lives. Children’s Friend provided services to help over 31,000 children and families in 2013. Rickover’s leadership and management style and illustrates Rickover’s unique impact on American and Navy culture. The author is a 1963 graduate of the US Naval Academy who spent 32 years in the Navy and played vital roles on separate committees during the Clinton and Bush administrations.

On Thursday, December 4, 2014, Moya Brennan the voice of Clannad and First Lady of Celtic Music brings the unique atmosphere of her music with a specially produced seasonal show of celebration and reflection. Family Charitable Foundation, Inc. a non-profit dedicated to raising and distributing funds for research and patient services for those suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (A.L.S.) commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
